Abstract
本発明の目的は、上部透明電極形成時に有機膜が酸化することを防止し、低い電圧で発光可能な上部光取出し型有機発光表示装置を提供することにある。
【解決手段】
有機発光層と、この有機発光層を挟む上部電極,下部電極を有し、かつ上部電極側から発光光を取り出す構造の有機発光表示装置において、有機発光層と上部電極の間に上部電極材料よりも成膜時に分解生成する酸素の量が少ない酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する。

Description
有機発光表示装置である。
nmのAlqとキナクリドン(以下Qcと略記)の共蒸着膜を形成した。蒸着速度を、
40:1に制御して蒸着した。Alq+Qc共蒸着膜は、発光層122として機能する。パターン形成はシャドウマスクを用いた。
129,正孔輸送層121,発光層122,電子輸送層123,電子注入層124の順に各層を積層した。各層の材料,成膜条件,膜厚は図1に示す実施例と同様である。上部電極はEB蒸着により成膜したAlである。パターン形成はシャドウマスクを用い、膜厚は100nmとした。下部光取出し型表示装置は、上部電極125が金属電極であるため上部電極形成時の有機膜酸化による発光電圧の上昇はない。
Si膜を、ドライエッチングでパターン化し、第1トランジスタの活性層,第2トランジスタの活性層、及び容量下部電極105を形成した。
Ar:O2 混合ガスを雰囲気として真空度1Pa、スパッタリング出力を0.2W/cm2とした。In−ZnO膜からなる上部電極125は陽極として機能し、その透過率は80%であった。

- 有機発光層と、該有機発光層を挟む上部電極及び下部電極とを有して構成され、
前記上部電極側から前記有機発光層の発光光を取出すものであり、
前記有機発光層と前記上部電極との間に、前記上部電極材料よりも成膜時に分解生成する酸素が少ない酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する
有機発光表示装置。 - 有機発光層と、該有機発光層を挟む上部電極及び下部電極とを有して構成され、
前記上部電極側から前記有機発光層の発光光を取出すものであり、
前記有機発光層と前記上部電極との間に、融点近傍に置ける生成ギブズエネルギーが前記上部電極材料よりも低い酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する
有機発光表示装置。 - 有機発光層と、該有機発光層を挟む上部電極及び下部電極とを有して構成され、
前記上部電極側から前記有機発光層の発光光を取出すものであり、
前記有機発光層と前記上部電極との間に、融点近傍に置ける生成ギブズエネルギーが
−300kJ/mol よりも低い酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する有機発光表示装置。 - 複数の画素とこの画素を駆動する薄膜トランジスタを有するアクティブ型有機発光表示装置において、
前記複数の画素にはそれぞれ有機発光素子を有しており、
該有機発光素子は、有機発光層と、該有機発光層を挟む上部電極及び下部電極とを有して構成され、
前記上部電極側から前記有機発光層の発光光を取出すものであり、
前記上部電極は補助電極に接続されており、
前記有機発光層と前記上部電極との間及び前記上部電極と前記補助電極との間に、融点近傍に置ける生成ギブズエネルギーが−300kJ/mol よりも低い酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する
有機発光表示装置。 - 請求項1,2,3,4に記載の有機発光表示装置において、前記上部電極は酸化インジウムを主成分とする透明電極である
有機発光表示装置。 - 請求項1,2,3,4に記載の有機発光表示装置において、前記バッファ層は比抵抗が1×107Ω・cm 以下の酸化物からなり、膜厚は5nm〜50nmである
有機発光表示装置。 - 請求項1,2,3,4に記載の有機発光表示装置において、前記バッファ層はバナジウム酸化物を主成分とする
有機発光表示装置。 - 複数の画素とこの画素を駆動する薄膜トランジスタを有するアクティブ型有機発光表示装置において、
前記複数の画素にはそれぞれ有機発光素子を有しており、
該有機発光素子は、電子注入層,電子輸送層,有機発光層,有機正孔輸送層,上部電極及び下部電極を有して構成され、
前記上部電極側から前記有機発光層の発光光を取出すものであり、
前記有機正孔輸送層と前記上部電極との間に、バナジウム酸化物を主成分とするバッファ層を有する
有機発光表示装置。
