995,817. Attaching articles to wearing apparel; neck-tie retainers. BLANDCROFT Ltd. Jan. 2, 1964, No. 173/64. Addition to 901,528. Heading A3H. A necktie retainer has a base part with an opening for attachment to a shirt button and a part overlying the base part to form a clip for retaining the loose ends of a necktie, the clip being detachable or otherwise movable with respect to the base part. The base plate 11 has a slot for attaching to a shirt button and a raised tongue 16 behind which the part 17 of the clip with turned over arms 18 engages. The arm has projections 19 for engaging the sides of the tongue for positioning the clip on the base part. The base part may have an open ended slot 27 with turned back ends to provide slots 28 to engage both a button and the edge of the shirt. A further elongated slot 30 accommodates the stem of a stud head 31 on a tie retaining clip. The base part 33 may incorporate a clip member 36 which is pivotally attached to the base part. The base part may have openings to retain the bifurcated ends of a clip bar. The stud may be on the base part and the slot is then in the clip. The stud may be a detachable screw. The stud head may be domed and the slot for it may be hooded. The tie retainer may be made of wire.
