Abstract
901,528. Attaching articles to wearing apparel; neck-tie retainers. COLLINS, G. A. April 23, 1959 [May 21, 1958], No. 16253/58. Class 43. A neck-tie retaining device has a first part 12 containing an opening or openings enabling the part to be located between a garment and a button or buttons thereon and a second part 13 overlying the first part in spaced relation to form with the first part a clip for retaining an article between the parts. The button or buttons securing means enter a slot 14 through a side opening 15 in the part 12 or through an enlargement in the slot or by means of the resilience of the sides of the slot. The device may have two slots open at each end of the device or one may be open at the side. The first part may be tubular with a slot extending to one end or to both ends. The device may have a flap or flaps for engaging the edge of material, the flap may have a notch engaging the securing means. The device may be circular with an open-ended slot at each end or it may have two inturned retaining arms. The free end of the retaining part 13 or first part 12 may clip to the first part or retaining part or have a turned over end. The device may be made of polythene or wire. The edges of the slot or slots may approach one another at one or more points to retain the button or buttons.
