Abstract

678,888. Necktie retainers. BISHOP, W. H. May 8, 1951 [July 26, 1950], No. 18640/50. Class 43. A tie clip of the type wherein a bar portion b engages the front of the tie and a resilient limb c engages under a part of the shirt is provided with a safety chain or other flexible element, one end of which is attached either directly or indirectly to the clip, while the other end carries a flat disc h or other anchorage member which is passed through a button hole of the shirt. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 a chain d is attached at one end to a ring e at one end of the clip, and passes freely through at ring f at the other end of the clip, the tie being passed forwardly through the loop of chain before the clip is slid into position. Alternatively a short length of chain provided with a retaining disc may depend either from the middle of a loop of chain extending between rings at the ends of the clip or from the lower half of the rear limb c of the clip.
