Abstract

963,180. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. March 5, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 8669/63. Heading H2E. An assembly for connecting the conductors of two printed circuit panels consists of a series of mating pairs of contacts housed in two insulated housings which housings slidably fit into each other so that the contacts mate resiliently together. The one set of contacts 14, consist of flat blades 15, each having a transverse leg 16, at each end, and a central leg 17. One leg 16 extends through a groove 8, on one side of the panel 7<SP>1</SP>, and the other leg 16, through a groove 9, on the other side, and then both legs pass through a hole in the printed circuit panel 3, and the ends are bent over and soldered to the printed tapes 4. The other contacts 35, comprising a channel portion having resilient walls is placed in groove 30, and has one leg 39, bent over the upper surface of wall, 22, to lie in one of the grooves 32 or 33, the other leg 40 being bent around shoulder 34 or 34<SP>1</SP>, and extending through an aperture in panel 1, and soldered to a printed tape 2. The ribs 12 and 12<SP>1</SP> co-operate with grooves 44, in the lugs 24 of the housing 6, and the T- shaped rib 13, of the housing 7, co-operates with groove 45 in lug 24<SP>1</SP>. In a modification the female contacts are on member 7, and the male contacts in housing 6. Specifications 963,178 and 963,179 are referred to.
