Abstract

963,178. Two part couplings. AMP Inc. March 5, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 8667/63. Heading H2E. An assembly for connecting the conductors of a printed circuit panel to the conductors of a tape cable consists of a series of mating pairs of contacts housed in two insulated housings, which housings slidably fit into each other so that the contacts mate resiliently together. The lower contact 7 consists of a flat blade 8, having a transverse leg 9 at each end and a central transverse leg 10. Each leg 9 extends through a notch 11, in the housing 5, and then through an aperture in the printed circuit board to be soldered to the printed tapes. The central leg 10, extends through central apertures 12, in the housing 5. Each upper contact 15 is placed in a channel 25, in housing 6, so that the sidewalls of the contact resiliently engage the walls of the channel, the lugs 19 and 20, passing around bars 27 into channels 26, into which they are folded. The lug 20 is connected to one of the conductors 3, of the cable 4, by soldering. The cable is placed on portion 28, and lugs 29, pass through a series of holes in the cable insulation, and the cable is held in position by cover 30, sliding in groove 22, while groove 23 guides the housings 5 and 6 together. In further embodiments, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), a housing similar to housing 5 is formed to mate with two housings similar to housing 6. Specifications 963,179 and 963,180 are referred to.
