Abstract

847,956. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Oct. 3, 1957 [Oct. 8, 1956], No. 31006/57. Class 38(1) A socket contact comprises a ferrule portion 25, crimped about the conductor and insulation of a wire 23, and a pair of parallel side-walls 28, 30 each having a concave contact. surface 40 and being formed integral with the ferrule portion. The side walls are joined at the corners of one side by integral webs 36, 38 and adjacent the corners of the opposite side by links 32, 34 each formed integrally with one of the side walls and bent round to engage a slot in the other side wall in which it is retained by a tab 44. Fig. 10 shows several contacts located in recesses in an insulating body 60 and held captive therein behind shoulders, which prevent their longitudinal withdrawal, by a cover 76 slidable on the body.
