Abstract

1,125,830. Two-part couplings. MULTICONTACT A.G. 3 Nov., 1966 [6 Nov., 1965 (2)], No. 49315/66. Heading H2E. A socket for a two-part electrical coupling comprises a body portion 1 having a hole in which is placed a strip 6 of resilient metal, the strip having a plurality of narrow slits cut therein and the material between the slits being twisted out of the plane of the strip to form ridges 5. The body may be made of rubber or plastics material but is preferably made of conducting material with a threaded nipple for making contact with a cable or the like. In a modification, two strips are placed side by side in the hole and the device is used to connect two plugs. Alternatively, Fig. 5 (not shown), a single strip having two rows of ridges is used, with or without the body portion. In a further modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), a multi-pole connector is constructed by alternating lengths of strip with lengths of insulation around the inner surface of a cylindrical housing.
