Abstract

963,083. Floating vessel for oil well operations. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. June 20, 1962 [June 22, 1961], No. 23775/62. Heading E1H. A floating vessel, one embodiment of which is shown in Fig. 3 and another in Figs. 4 and 5, comprises a buoyant hull 14, 15, 16 (or 35), three upwardly-extending fluid tanks 11, 12, 13 fixed to the hull and arranged in a substantially equilateral triangular configuration, the tanks being partially filled with a liquid, and normally liquid-filled laterally-extending conduits 49, 50, 51 (or 49a, 50a, 51a) interconnecting the lower portions of the fluid tanks to permit a flow of liquid therebetween. The conduits may include flow control valves 55. The tops of the tanks may be connected by air conduits 52, 53, 54 which may include flow control valves 58, 59, 60.
