Abstract
1384881 Raising sunken vessels J R CLEGG 17 April 1972 [19 Jan 1971] 2461/71 Heading B7S A vessel 10 is raised to the surface by introducing air or gas or expanded plastics material into the hull through a flexible pipe 20 so expelling the water through a flexible pipe 16 sealed to the hull at 12. The or each compartment being worked on is previously sealed and may be provided with a pressure relief valve. The expelling medium may be introduced as a chemical which re-acts with the water, or as a liquified gas as, in the case of plastics material, in a flow of fluid.
