Abstract

938,866. Image receiving elements and products for colour diffusion transfer. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. Aug. 21, 1961 [Aug. 22, 1960], No. 30109/61. Class 98 (2). Poly-4-vinyl pyridine is included in the receiving element for use as with sensitive materials containing colour-providing substances, particularly dye developers; and the products have this receiving element together with at least one such emulsion layer and a rupturable container of alkaline processing solution; the purpose being to produce transfer images of improved density, brightness and gloss. Example 1 describes emulsion polymerisation of 4-vinyl pyridine, Examples 2-6 coating preparations of the polymer usually with acetic acid and polyvinyl alcohol to form the receiving elements and Example 7 a control for comparison purposes ; and full density comparison figures using red, green and blue filters after exposure with the three pairs of these colours, total exposure and no exposure and transfer processing with the receiving elements of Examples 2-7 are provided.
