Abstract

818,687. Colour photographic materials. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Jan. 16, 1957], No. 1608/57. Class 98(2) Multilayer materials of improved speed are characterized in that the sensitive layer nearest the support is a composite layer comprising two separate coatings of silver halide emulsions containing non- diffusible colour formers and sensitized to the same waveband. The same emulsion may be used for both of these coatings or the colour formers may be different provided they give images of the same colour, preferably, however, the first coating of the composite is slower than the second, and then the speed of the composite is greater than either of the emulsions used and the latitude is considerably increased. The green, red, blue and the red, green, blue sequences starting from the support are described, and colour correction by use of coloured colour formers or otherwise may be effected. An example of the preferred form and in the latter sequence refers to the B.I.O.S. Final Report No. 1355 for sensitisers and colour formers, which are the same for both coatings of the composite layer.
