Abstract

1321672 Photographic colour transfer materials INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP 29 June 1970 31411/70 Addition to 1220474 Heading G2C A colour transfer film unit yielding on exposure and development a colour print consisting of a positive colour image over a negative image and separated therefrom by a light opacifying layer, contains a support and layers laminated thereto consisting of a polymeric dye-image receiving layer and a silver halide layer containing a dyeimage-forming compound e.g. a dye-developer, a light opacifying material comprising e.g. TiO 2 being present between the image-receiving and silver halide layers as a light opacifying layer or, if an aqueous alkaline processing composition is positioned to be spread between the said layers, then the light opacifying material may be in the processing composition, and which the film unit contains a single polymeric acid layer on the side of the silver halide layer distant from the image-receiving layer, the polymeric acid layer containing sufficient acidifying groups to reduce the pH of the aqueous alkaline processing composition after development to a pH at which the dye image forming material is substantially non-diffusible. Preferred film-units comprise in order a first support, a polymeric acid layer, a silver halide layer, an image-receiving layer and a second transparent support and an aqueous alkaline processing composition in a rupturable container positioned to be spread between the silver halide and image-receiving layers, the first support being transparent when a light opacifying layer is situated between the silver halide and image-receiving layers, or being opaque when the processing composition contains the light opacifying material.
