Abstract
936,344. Knitting-machines. SDRUZENI PODNIKU TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI. Sept. 16, 1959 [Sept. 16, 1958], No. 31520/59. Class 74 (2). Patterning mechanism is provided in a circular machine to produce overall tuck stitch effect in the fabric produced and comprises a series of continuously rotating cam rings 5 concentric with the needle cylinder 1 and arranged in two groups 5a, 5b to operate on jack butts for needle selection at the first and third stations of a four feeder machine. The cam rings of each group have associated with them a corresponding number of levers 12, 14 which are supported on shafts carrying at their upper ends levers 13, 15. These levers 13, 15 engage selectors 10, 11 at each feeding station which normally are urged inwardly towards the needle cylinder to engage the jack butts. A ring 20 also concentric with the needle cylinder supports cam followers 16, 17 interposed between the cam rings 5 and levers 12, 14 and also a wedge shape member 26 for engagement with the levers 12 at the first feed. The ring 20 is rotatably adjustable under control of the pattern drum of the machine and in the position shown in Fig. 5 the levers 12, 14 are free from movement of the followers 16, 17 and accordingly the selectors 10, 12 engage all of the butts on the jacks to ensure that the needles clear. If the ring 20 is moved to the position shown in Fig. 7 where the followers 16, 17 engage the levers 12, 14 then overall tucking is effected by the cam rings causing selection of the selectors and influencing the needle jacks. When the ring 20 assumes the position shown in Fig. 7 then the levers 14 are uninfluenced and the selectors occupy their innermost position to cause all of the needles to clear at the third feeding station whereas the member 26 causes the levers 12 to withdraw all of the selectors 10 at the first feeding station to cause them to actuate only the long butt jacks which cause a 1 x selection at that feeding station. The needle jacks have long and short butts at the various levels corresponding to the selectors as well as butts being omitted at some levels on some of the jacks to enable the desired tuckwork pattern to be achieved.
