Abstract
1,212,573. Knitting-machines. E. MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE], 18 July, 1968 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 34155/68. Heading D1C. Needle transfer on a multifeeder superposed cylinder machine is achieved by providing patterning mechanism 17 prior to each feeding station which through selectors 10 and jacks 11 elevate sliders 12 on the lower cylinder into a position in which the slider ibutts follow an upper camway 22 in which position their needles are taken by the sliders 14 in the upper cylinder, Section II, Fig. 1. Subsequently the butts of the sliders 12 in the lower cylinder continue in the upper camway 22, Section III, Fig. 1, until ultimately the needles are transferred back to them whereupon they are retracted and the needles caused to knit in the lower cylinder, Section II, Fig. 3. The sliders 12 are maintained in their upper position by being reselected by the patterning mechanism at each feeding station. The sliders in the top and bottom cylinders are resiliently held within the tricks by elements 25, 27 mounted within its cam cylinders and pressed against the sliders by springs. Recesses 250, 270 permit the sliders to pivot when releasing their needles.
