Abstract

1,247,676. Knitting. FOUQUET - WERK FRAUZ & PLANCK. 26 Sept., 1968, [26 Sept., 1967], No. 37618/68. Headings D1C and D1K. In a multi-feed cylinder and dial knitting machine for knitting double-sided Jacquard pattern material, where separate radially aligned pattern devices are provided for the cylinder and dial needles, the dial needles are moved to operating position by needle jacks 54 which are swung in the needle tricks by selector jacks 51 when the latter are selected by the patterning device. The butts of selected needles are engaged in a cam track which causes them to knit. The selector jacks 51 have butts at various levels so that they may be selected by the pattern device. The needle jacks are returned to selection position by a cam 55. The fabric may be as shown in Fig. 3 where crosses and blank squares indicate stitches of two different colours and the opposite side of the fabric will have the colours reversed. In knitting this fabric a dial or a cylinder needle is selected at each position according to the pattern and a course is knitted of the first colour after which the needles of both the cylinder and dial which did not knit in the first course are selected and knit on course of the second colour which the first selected needles remain at rest. Fabrics of more than two colours may be knitted.
