Abstract

1,090,657. Knitting-machines. ZAVODY VSEOBECNEHO STROJIRENSTVI, OBOROVE REDITELSTVI. Oct. 21, 1965 [Oct. 22, 1964], No. 44588/65. Heading D1C. Both beds of a cylinder-and-dial machine or other two bed machine have a welt drum 9 for needle selection during formation of the welt and a pattern drum 6 for needle selection for patterning during knitting of the remainder of the garment. The welt, which may be formed on a two by two rib basis, is knitted by needles selectively raised by jacks 1 having a series of lower butts 3 actuated by selector cams 7 from the pins on the pin drum 9. The drum 9 is coaxial with the pattern drum 6 but independently operated by pawl and ratchet mechanism. The drum 6 likewise operates selector cams 4 influencing a series of upper butts 2 on the jacks 1.
