929,188. Comminuting machines. C. SCHNELL, [trading as CARL SCHNELL MASCHINENFABRIK]. Oct. 24, 1960 [Oct. 31, 1959], No. 36400/60. Class 28 (2). A comminuting machine for meat, bread and the like comprises a perforated plate 3 movable towards and away from rotary cutter blades 4 but secured against lateral movement, wherein some of the perforations 9 are covered so that pressure exerted by comminuted material in some or all of these holes causes the plate to move towards the cutter blades. Plate 3 is axially displaceable on bolts 19 on an annular shoulder 2 of a housing 1 and cutter blades 4 are fast on a motor shaft 5. Perforations 9 are at the edge of plate 3 and are oblique having enlargements 11, 12 at the upper and lower sides of the plate. An annular bead 13 on shoulder 2 engages an annular groove in the marginal portion of plate 3 so as to keep the space behind perforations 9 closed. Otherwise, Fig. 6, an annular recess 16 in plate 3 engages machine housing 1.
