Abstract
928,877. Finishing yarns; twist tubes. SPINNER OSAKEYHTIO. Feb. 27, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 7540/62. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). In a curling process, a thermoplastic yarn 2 is passed through a tensioner 3 into a heating oven 4, wherein the yarn surface is melted, and the yarn (then in pliable condition) is fed under tension through a twisting device 8 so that on the subsequent path of the yarn to and around guide rollers 9, 10, 11, irregular curls develop therein. The yarn-twisting device, Fig. 2, comprises a cylindrical sleeve 19 mounted for rotation in a housing 13 and carrying rings 25 of V cross-section the limbs or portions 29 and 26 of which engage the inner cylindrical surface and extend over the end surfaces of the sleeve. Each ring is flared and of a material e.g. rubber, such that the frictional contact between the rings and yarn 2 is sufficient to impart a twist thereto during rotation of the sleeve. The portions 26 serve as protective covers for the bearings 14 and 15. A cover 24 protecting the housing may be removed to enable adjustment of driving belt 22 running between upstanding portions 20 and 23 on the sleeve. The radius of curvature of the inner surface of each ring may be greater at positions adjoining the ends than at positions intermediate thereof.
