Abstract

914,403. Clamp fastenings. EVANS & NEWALL Ltd. May 26, 1961 [July 2, 1960], No. 23214/60. Class 44. A band clamp of the type in which the tightening operation is effected by the two ends of the band being drawn together and secured one over the other in an adjustable manner by means of a toggle lever b1 has the band formed in two parts a, al adjustably secured together and having a link d pivoted on a connecting member for attachment to a rigid tube on a sack or bag-filling machine or other appliance. As shown, the two parts a, a1 are secured together by a bolt and wing nut c, c1 at one end of each part and at the other end of each part by the toggle lever. The toggle lever is pivoted to a base b2 secured to the part a the lever b1 carrying a link b3 which is pivoted to it and which is engageable with a hook a4 formed by bending over the end of the part a1. The toggle lever serves to secure the clamp in place and the bolt and wing nut enables its diameter to be adjusted before securing. The bolt and wing nut also serve to attach the clip to the link d by which it is attached to the article. In a modified construction the bolt and wing nut are replaced by a worm drive mechanism and the link d is pivoted to the housing of this.
