909,676. Improvements to shoe soles. MCCARTHY, D. D. Dec. 12, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1960], No. 42718/60. Class 17 (2). The forepart of a shoe sole is tapered in thickness from the thickest part 14 slightly behind the metatarsal heads to the toe. The sole at the back portion 10 between the ball region and the heel is thinner than at the point 14. The sole may be a combination sole with a leather outsole portion 30 generally of even thickness throughout and a moulded forefoot pad 32 or may be an integral construction moulded from rubber or elastic composition material.
