Abstract
901,180. Pneumatic conveyers. PONNDORF, W., [trading as PONNDORF MASCHINENFABRIK KOMM.-GES.]. Dec. 9, 1960 [Jan. 21, 1960], No. 42459/60. Class 78 (1). A screw impeller (not shown) disposed in a housing 1 feeds wet and pulpy material through members 2 and 3 past a displaceable shutter 4 so that it can be acted on by pressure air supplied through an annular nozzle 5 and thence to a pipe line 8. When the pressure in the vicinity of the nozzle 5 reaches a predetermined degree, a mechanism 17 actuates a switch 19 to energize a motor 12. This acts through a drive 10 to rotate the shutter 4 so as to prevent the feed of further material. When the pressure again subsides, the mechanism 17, 19 actuates the motor 12 so that it rotates in the reverse sense to move the shutter 4 into the open position. A pinion 11 on the motor shaft operates cam members 21a and 21b which co-operate with limit switches 23, 22, so as to de-energize the motor 12 at either extreme of its movement. If desired, the mechanism may be arranged to switch-off the motor driving the screw impeller when the shutter 4 is moved to its closed position. Instead of the pivotally-mounted shutter shown, a linearly-acting shutter may be used.
