Abstract
599,049. Endless-belt conveyers. MICKLEY COAL CO., Ltd., TAYLOR, R., and PAISLEY, R. Oct. 17, 1945,'No. 27221. [Class 78(i)] . In a method of controlling a series of conveyers feeding one another in sequence, the actual running of a conveyer at above or below a predetermined speed determines the respective starting or stopping of the next conveyer in the sequence. A roller 1 is mounted in contact with and is rotated by a belt and contains oil or other fluid 2. A spindle 4 is journalled in the roller spindle 3 and has vanes 5 mounted on it which project into the oil. The end of the spindle 4 projects past the end of the roller spindle 3 which is fixed against rotation and is coupled to the operating mechanism of a switch 7 .connected in the circuit of the next conveyer. The vaned spindle has two stop positions to one of which it is carried when the conveyer is running at its normal speed and to the other by a counterweight 10. When one conveyer starts up the pressure of the oil on the vanes 5 is sufficient to overcome the counterweight 10 of the switch mechanism and the switch operates to start up the following conveyer. Similarly, when one conveyer stops the counterweight operates the switch and stops the next conveyer.
