Abstract
882,979. Paper-making machines. BELOIT IRON WORKS. Dec. 11, 1957 [Dec. 18, 1956], No. 38530/57. Class 96. To reduce the wear on the wire-cloth of a machine for making multiple-ply paper or paper-board and to enable the white water from the various plies to be dealt with separately, the successive layers of pulp are deposited from flow-boxes 26, 28 at spaced positions along the wire-cloth 12 at which suction is applied through the wire, either by a suction roll of the usual kind or, as illustrated, by foraminous rolls 20, 30 enclosed by casings 22, 32 with suction pipes and white water outlets 24, 34 respectively. The plies may be of different fibre or of different colour. Suction boxes 18 are optional, and may operate with little suction.
