Pulp for making paper or cardboard is felted on an endless wire-cloth 1 travelling upwardly through a casing supplied with pulp at 8, excess pulp overflowing at 11, and white water 7 being discharged at 9. The web is subjected to suction at 12 and on a roll 3. The compartments 5 below the wire-cloth may also be under suction ; and the slope of the wire-cloth may be varied.
