872,971. Folding chairs. HUGHES, D. J. March 19, 1960, No. 9822/60. Class 52(2). A folding chair has a seat frame including side members 11, 12 and transverse members 13, 14, a back rest-frame pivoted thereto and having side members 23, 24 and a ground engaging support including uprights 16, 17 pivoted to the seat frame and joined by members 18, 19 the seat frame having hinged thereto struts 31 which engage notches 32 in members 23, 24, the weight of the occupant acting on the canvas 26 to maintain the struts in compression. The struts have extending plates 33 preventing lateral displacement of the nose from the notch 32 when erect and also supporting the struts in the folded position by engaging with a spring pressed ball held by a bracket 37 on the opposite side member of the frames.
