Abstract
859,912. Bed chairs. HALL, W. J. Jan. 3, 1957 [Aug. 25, 1956], No. 26065/56. Class 52(2) A chair convertible into a bed by backward pressure on the back rest, the seat and back rest then assuming substantially coplanar horizontal positions, has the seat supported on side members of the chair frame by pairs of parallel links 7 and 8 and the back rest pivoted to the seat at 16 and supported in an upright position by arcuate links 18 pivoted to side members of the back rest frame and the links 7. The front links 8 have beyond the lower pivot a downward extension to which is attached a tension spring 12 secured at the other end to the chair frame. A hinged front panel 23 is lowered to support the seat frame when extended. In the seat position the seat frame rests on ledges 22. The seat frame is tubular and two such chairs may be connected together when extended, as by spigots. Specification 859,913 is referred to.
