Abstract

860,730. Thermal switches; fluid actuation of switches. ARIC Ltd. Aug. 14, 1959 [Sept. 10, 1958], No. 29070/58. Class 38 (5). A mercury or other tilting switch 32 is carried by a cradle 31 pivoted at 24 on a plate 25 carrying a stop-pin 26. The plate 25 is adjustably-mounted by pin 24 on a plate 18 to which it can be secured by a screw 27. The plate 18 which carries a stop 19 is adjustably pivoted at 11 to a plate 12 which is rotatable about 11 by a rack-and-pinion 13, 14 driven by, e.g., a pressure or temperature-responsive element, e.g. a Bourdon tube. The plate 18 is locked to plate 12 by a screw 20. The position of pin 19 controls the operating point of the switch without affecting the operating range, whereas the position of pin 18 governs one end of the range.
