Abstract

[Also in Group XXIX] A delivery valve for the control of fluids, comprises a tubular valve body having an orifice connecting the interior of the valve body with the exterior thereof and an annular groove or an annular bead on its external surface engageable with an annular bead on a resilient valve closure member stretched over the valve body and formed with a tapered flange whose free extremity is urged by the resilience of the material of the closure member into contact with a surface on the valve body or a surface on a part associated with the valve body to close the valve. As shown in Fig. 1, a tubular valve body 11 screw-threaded for attachment to a container and closedat its outer end is formed with an orifice 16 and an annular groove 17 engageable with an annular bead 18 on a rubber or like valve closure member 12. The closure member whose shape before mounting is shown in chain dotted lines is stretched over the valve body so that the extremity of a tapered flange 19 engages the peripheral surface of the valve body when the pressure of the fluid in the container is below a certain value. On the pressure of the fluid exceeding this value the flange 19 hinges about the bead 18 to open the valve. In another embodiment, the valve closure member 12, Fig. 6, is formed with first and second tapered flanges 19, 40. The first tapered flange 19 moving away from an orifice 37 when the pressure within the container exceeds a certain value and the second tapered flange moving away from a pin 50 depending from a casing 44 enclosing the closure member to allow atmospheric air to enter the container when the pressure in the container is below atmospheric.
