Abstract

854,307. Stoppers. AMERICAN CAN CO. Dec. 22, 1958 [March 13, 1958], No. 41304/58. Class 125(3). A normally sealed container has a conduit 10 for equalizing the external and internal pressure on its walls, the conduit 10 being governed by a non-return valve formed by flat thermoplastic tubing 14 free at its end remote from a stem 12 over which it is slipped. The stem 12 is mounted in a plug 28 of resilient material carrying a nozzle 18 and held in an aperture in an end wall 4 of the container by a bead 30, the nozzle 18 being closed by a cap, Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), connected to the plug 28 by a flexible strap 26. The body wall 8 of the container, which is cylindrical, is of plastics material. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the stem is mounted directly in a wall of'the container.
