Abstract
841,552. Mounting typewriters &c. in desks &c. WILKES BERGER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. (Schneider, A.). May 25, 1956 [March 4, 1955], No. 6497/55. Class 52(1) Relates to typewriter and like supports adapted to be fitted in a desk in which a supporting platform 7 is suspended at each side by a bracket device within the desk in such manner that it can be swung from a lower stowed position upwardly and forwardly to an extended operative position. According to the invention, each device comprises a platform supporting plate 5 suspended by parallel front and rear links 3, 4 from an anchorage plate 1 fixed to the desk, the link 3 having a gravity operated catch 8 co-operative with a stud 10 on plate 5 to hold the platform in the extended position, there being provided a tension spring 16 so connected to the desk at 17 and to the link 4 that it passes through a dead centre position to support the platform in extended position and to urge it into completely stowed position. In the extended position, plates 5 engage brackets 19 having upwardly converging cam faces to give rigidity to the platform. In the extended position, the platform may be supported by and connected to the opened door of the compartment in which it is mounted.
