1342236 Load handling pallets GLAVERBEL 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 8074/70 Heading B8H A device 1 for holding a load of sheets, comprises a load supporting deck 3 supported on a front leg or legs 5, and a rear wall 2 for supporting the leaning weight of sheets placed edgewise on the deck, and is characterized in that the device incorporates a rear leg or legs 6 which are hingeable, e.g. at 8, 8<1> such that they can support the device with the rear wall 2 vertical and can hinge to a position, e.g. as shown in Fig. 1 such that the device then stands with said rear wall inclined rearwardly from bottom to top. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 catch members 10, 10<1> can hold the legs 6, 6<1> in both positions and in the vertical position the open channel section legs enclose rear uprights 9. Catch members hold the legs in position by means of projections, bars and slots (Fig. 2, not shown). In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, an alternative catch member 10 is provided and comprises a rectangular angled loop through which both legs 6 pass, and is hinged at the 'elbow' 38. Edge 40 fits into slots 47, 48, 49 in fixed plate 45 each slot 48, 49 giving a different inclination. A front retaining member 50 is provided for holding the sheets, e.g. glass panes which are firstly loaded on to the device in its inclined position and then, after the retaining member is connected via latch pin 51 to front leg. and via plate 52 and bolt 53 to upright 9, the device is returned to the vertical position. Other types of retaining members are described. Resilient lining material 31 may be provided. In a third embodiment, Fig. 4, a rear leg 57 is provided at each side of the device and swings down to obtain the vertical position of the device. As shown, the device is inclined.
