837,661. Hypodermic syringes. HENDERSON, E. May 27, 1958, No. 16891/58. Class 81 (2). An arrangement for re leasably holding a hypodermic needle of uniform dia meter on a syringe barrel comprises a resilient, tubular collet and a cap which dis torts the collet into gripping contact with the needle. The attachment member 18 is secured to the neck 16 of the syringe barrel 15 and has an external thread 19, which co-operates with an internal thread on a tapered cap 23 which, when tightened, compresses the collet 22, of artificial rubber, against the needle 26, as shown in Fig. 2. In order to limit the inward movement of the needle, a pin 25 extends across the bore 20 of the member 18 and is slightly offset so as not to obstruct the lumen of the needle. Various modifications are also described having other forms of stop, to prevent the needle passing into the barrel, and other forms of collet. In a further arrangement the attachment member is detachably mounted on the tapered nozzle of a syringe.
