Abstract

835,496. Rail anchors. POOR & CO. Jan. 7, 1958 [Sept. 17, 1957], No. 623/58. Class 104 (2). A rail anchor comprising a steel bar having a hook 23 at one end for gripping the top and bottom surfaces of a rail base 30 and one side of the rail 11, a horizontal body portion for extending beneath the rail base 30 and a locking shoulder 25 for engaging an edge 31 of the rail base flange 30 at the other side of the rail 11 has a vertically disposed flange 17 extending lengthwise of the body and around the hook in spaced relationship to the rail base 30 and a pair of diverging lateral flanges 18, 19 which extend from one edge of the vertical flange 17 and are inclined thereto for gripping engagement at their extremities with the rail base flange 30. A transverse recess 27, adjacent shoulders 26 on the inside of the hook 23, is provided to facilitate the attachment of the anchor to the rail base flange 30.
