Abstract
820,073. Ordnance mountings. ANSTALT FUR DIE ENTWICKLUNG VON ERFINDUNGEN UND GEWERBLICHEN ANWENDUNGEN ENERGA. June 14, .1957 [June 19, 1956], No. 18879/57. Class 92 Relates to mountings for wheeled ordnance of the type which can be converted to a fixedpositioned mount on three legs or trails. According to the invention the gun barrel and associated parts are carried on a vertical pivot 6, Fig. 1, rotatably mounted in a fixed seat plate 7 to which are secured the ends of three elbowed legs 8 9, 10, Figs. 1, 5, which in the firing position are angularly equidistant. The front leg 8 which in the zerotraverse position of the barrel lies substantially parallel to and in a vertical plane of the barrel, is pivoted at 13 to the seat plate 7 about an axis which intersects that of the pivot 6, while the other two legs 9. 10, Fig. 5, are each pivoted to the plate 7 about an axis 24 forming an acute angle α with the longitudinal direction of the leg. The arrangement is such that to bring the gun from the firing position to the transport position, the leg 8 is turned through 180 degrees on the pivot 13 and the free end of the leg secured two the barrel as shown in Fig. 2 while the other two legs 9, 10 are each turned through 180 degrees about its axis 24 to fold over to the front leg side with its free end over the barrel the leg resting on a support 23 on the gun cradle. The leg 8 is Pocked in either the firing or transport position by means of a lug 15, Fig. 4, pivoted on a bracket 16 on the plate 7 and operated by a handle 19 to engage in recesses 17, 18 in the rear part of the leg 8. The legs 9, 10 are each locked in the firing position by a removable pin 25 housed in apertures 26, 26a of the plate 7 and in an aperture 27 in the leg. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), this pin is not removable and is provided with a helicoidal groove 32 engaged by a guide block 33 secured to the seat plate so that by turning a handle 34, the pin is withdrawn sufficiently to per mit release of the Feg. As shown in Fig. 2 the leg 8 is secured to a removable draught sleeve 20 carried by the barrel muzzle but in a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the leg 8 is secured to the barrel and is provided with a draught arm 21.
