Abstract

1,055,480. Gun mountings. W. RUF. Nov. 2, 1964 [Dec. 5, 1963], No. 44579/64. Heading F3C. A support for light weapons, particularly machine guns, combined with a telescopic sight and mounted on the roof of a vehicle is rotatably and tiltably mounted on an insert 5 adapted to be placed in an aperture provided in the roof. The support 11 is tiltably mounted by pivot 10 on a carrier 7 which is rotatably mounted in the insert, and a rod 12 passes through the insert and enables the support 11 to be tilted by an operating member 13. A telescopic sight 15 in the form of a periscope extends through the insert and is pivoted at 16. The sight is pivotally connected to the support 11 by a bar 17 which extends parallel to the line joining pivots 10, 16 to ensure that the optical axis of the sight is always parallel to the bore of the weapon. The carrier is provided with a lever to enable it to be rotated, which lever (or the operating member 13) may be provided with a firing lever connected to the trigger of the weapon by a cable.
