817,803. Liquid fuel burners. FLORENCE, C. P. Feb. 11, 1957 [Feb. 9, 1956], No. 4063/56. Class 75(1) The combustion air for an oil burner for use in a boiler or cooker or for space heating, passes through a duct heated by the flames from the burner, the oil supply to which is fed down an inclined plane to which the heated air has access on both sides. In the form shown, the burner comprises a rectangular casing containing a sloping plate 7 down which oil from a supply pipe 5 flows into the space below a gauze or foraminated element 10, and mixes with air entering the duct 2, passing below the plate 7, thence above a perforated plate 8, part of the air passing through perforations 8b to mix with the vaporized oil and part through perforations 8a to provide secondary air. The duct 2 is heated by the flame burning above the element 10. The perforations 8a are smaller than the perforations 8b. The element 10 may be mounted in a frame 11 so as to be removable for cleaning.
