810,645. Stuffing-box substitutes. S.K.F. KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. May 29, 1957 [Jan. 3, 1956], No. 17081/57. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group IX] A seal to prevent the entry of fluff and the escape of lubricant in a textile top drafting- roller, is in the form of a ring with three annular parts, one, 14, of which is mounted on the roller body 12, another, 20, is tapered towards the shaft on which the roller is mounted, and the third has a bead 19 engaging a recess in a member 8 which rotates with the roller. The member 8 is the outer ring of a bearing, and is secured by a circlip 9 to a member 7 which keeps in position balls 5, 6 in grooves 3, 4 in a stationary shaft 1 mounted at one end in a journal 10 and the other in a connecting member 2. The sealing-ring serves to connect the members 12 and 8: for this reason it has a flat surface 14 which is held in place against the roller 12 by circlips 15, 16. The part of the ring which has the head 19 has incisions to facilitate mounting it. The seal may be of polyamide.
