791,297. Surgical pins. ROMANOFF, N. S. A. Sept. 19, 1955, No. 26776/55. Class 43 A surgical pin for use in retaining a drainage tube in a wound is of a safety pin form comprising two tubular parts 10, 11 each of deeply bowed form, made of stiff bendable material and generally uniform throughout, with a hinge connection 12 at one of their adjacent ends, the other end of the portion 11 being cylindrical and hollow with a smooth exterior and an interior formed with integral ribs 15 to provide a frictional joint or connection with the free end of the portion 10, which terminates in a point 13 and has external ribs 14 behind the point to engage the internal ribs of the adjacent end of the part 11. The pin is preferably made of a locally deformable material such as a plastic, which is stiff enough for the pointed end 13 to penetrate a flexible drainage tube 16. The pins may also be used for fastening clothing and babies napkins, and may be made in various colours.
