Abstract

[Class 44] [Also in Group XVIII] A display or handling device for hosiery or underwear comprises a flat member 1, Fig. 1, for insertion in the top of the garment 4 to hold it in a flat distended condition and another flat member 2 which is arranged on the outside of the garment and is connected to the member 1 so that the fabric is located between the two members. The two plates 1, 2, are hinged at the top and a spring 5 urges them together. To give a good grip on the garment, the inside faces of one or both members may be roughened or coated with a frictional material. Both members have rounded edges and corners and taper slightly from top to bottom. The outer member 2 may be transparent. In another construction, Fig. 3, the outer member 8 is attached to the inner member 7 by having its margins 8a, 8b, 8c turned over to form grooves. The top margin 8a is made flexible so that the two members may be disengaged by sliding the outer downwardly. Alternatively or additionally, one of the margins 8b or 8c may be flexible.
