Abstract
788,065. Driving wagon tippers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MITCHELL, K. J. Oct. 19, 1955 [Oct. 28, 1954], No. 31193/54. Class 78 (4). A wagon tippler is driven by chains 29, Fig. 1, secured to two spaced points on its end frames 1. As illustrated, each chain passes over an idler sprocket 28 and over a sprocket 27 carried by a shaft 26 driven through an hydraulic coupling and a reduction gear (not shown) from a motor which may be positioned centrally of the length of the tippler or outside the end frames. The connection 30 at one end of each chain 29 is adjustable while the connection 31 at the other end is formed by a spring-loaded shock-absorber. Each end frame 1 is mounted outside trunnions 3, Fig. 2, for the tippler cage while the tippler shafts 8 are secured also to part of a bracing frame 5 joining the end frames 1. A top bolster is provided to engage each end wall of a wagon and is carried by a beam 20 mounted on the usual counterweighted bolster frame 19. Spill plates 9 assist in guiding the material into the hopper 10. The invention may be combined with means for weighing the wagons as in Specification 757,028, [Group XXXVIII].
