912,919. Change-speed gear. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. Dec. 22, 1959 [Dec. 24, 1958], No. 43575/59. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXX] In driving apparatus for a scraper conveyer a reduction gear 11 and a change-speed gear 12 are interposed between a motor 10 and the conveyer driving drum (not shown) and disconnectible couplings are provided between the change-speed gear and the motor and between the reduction gear and the change-speed gear, the couplings consisting of internally-toothed recesses 20, 26 in enlarged end portions 21, 25, respectively, of the input and output shafts 15, 24 of the change-speed gear which engage with pinions 17, 28 provided respectively on the output shaft 14 of the motor and the input shaft 27 of the reduction gear. The enlarged end portions 21, 25 are supported in ball-bearings sealed by caps 30, 31, further ball-bearings, sealed by caps 29, 32, supporting the opposite ends of the shafts 15, 24. Mating flanges 22, 23 on the housings of the motor and change-speed gear and similar flanges of the change-speed gear and reduction gear are secured together and prevent separation of the couplings.
