Abstract

An anti-corrosion composition for buried or exposed metalwork comprises a dispersion of tannin in a water-resistant neutral greasy carrier, e.g. petrolatum or a similar product obtained by mixing mineral oils and waxes or lanoline. An inert siliceous filler such as talc, china clay, slate powder or inert earths may be included. The composition may also be used as an impregnant for woven or felted material, e.g. cotton, glass or synthetic fibre so as to produce an anti-corrosion wrapping material. The tannin may be incorporated into the carrier in the dry state, or an aqueous solution of the tannin may be emulsified with a part of the carrier and this emulsion mixed with the remainder of the carrier.
