Abstract

A cementitious composition is prepared by finely grinding gypsum and/or anhydrite and adding thereto a setting composition which is obtained by mixing potash alum, borax or boric acid, and anhydrite and treating with sulphuric acid until acid. Sodium and/or potassium silicates can also be included in the setting composition. The cementitious composition may also include stearin, oils and waxes (for waterproofing), vermiculite, diatomaceous earth, kieselguhr, sizal, cotton waste, wood fibre, wood wool, or nylon waste.
