Class 82(1) [Also in Group XXVII] A cast valve seat insert for internal combustion engines comprises a ring 12 of a nickel-base alloy consisting of carbon 2.25- 2.75 per cent, nickel 37-- 43 per cent, chromium 18- 22 per cent, cobalt 10-14 per cent, tungsten, molybdenum or mixtures. thereof, 5-7 per cent, and the balance iron apart from the usual impurities. A preferred composition is 2.5 per cent carbon, 40 per cent nickel, 20 per cent chromium, 12 per cent-cobalt, 6 per cent tungsten (or 3 per cent tungsten and 3 per cent molybdenum) and the balance iron.
