Abstract

776,859. Two-part couplings; binding-posts. YOUNG, S. G. Sept. 13, 1954 [June 11, 1953], No. 16140/53. Class 38 (1). The contacts 1 of a bayonet-adaptor are formed from metal strip and comprise shank portions and bent-over head portions 2. The shank portions have screw-threaded holes 3 for terminal screws 5 and plain holes 4 for engagement with projections 16 in the adaptor body 8 when the contacts are inserted through slots 17. The leads 6 are gripped between a projection 15 on the body 8 and the edge of an aperture 12 in the cover 11. According to the Provisional Specification, Figs. 1 and 3, the shank portion of each contact has shoulders 4 and recesses 5 to receive lugs 11, 12 respectively on a clamping plate 9 which is moved into engagement with the contact, to clamp wires 19, by a screw 14 engaging a key-hole slot 18 in the plate 9. The upper lugs on plate 9 may be bridged at their ends to form a stop limiting outward movement of the plate.
