Abstract

719,657. Two-part couplings. DENT, Ltd., R. H., and HOYLES, L. April 28, 1953, [April 28, 1952.] No. 10646/52. Class 38 (1). A plug comprises an insulating block 10, Fig. 1, through bores 11 in which are inserted metal contact strips 12 attached to leads 15, the strips being bent back over an outer face of the block and their ends located . between projections 13. Fig. 3 shows a socket for the plug comprising an insulating base 16 carrying printed-circuit conductors 19 to which are soldered metal contact strips 18, their ends being bent so as to lie along one side of a transverse aperture 17 in the base whereby they engage the plug contacts when the plug is inserted in the aperture, projections 13 limiting the extent to which the plug can be inserted. Fig. 4 shows a modified socket wherein a recess 21 in the edge of the base has contact strips 22 overlying it, the plug being inserted parallel to the strips and held against a bridge member 23 on the opposite face of the base by the resilience, of the strips. Projections 13 on the plug may be replaced by side flanges Fig. 5, (not shown) or the ends of strips 12 may be turned up at rightangles to the block Fig. 7, (not shown). The socket contacts may comprise extensions 30, Fig. 8, of printed circuit' conductors 26, a bridge member 27 forming an opening for the plug.
