Abstract

Acetone-soluble copolymers of acrylonitrile and vinylidene chloride are dissolved in acetone which is dissolved an inorganic thiocyanate, such as the alkali metal and ammonium thiocyanates. The acetone used may be pure or contain up to 7.5 per cent of water and/or an alcohol such as methyl, ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. The copolymers used preferably contain from 20-50 per cent of acrylonitrile. The solutions produced may be used in the production of films and filaments.
