767,052. Dynamo-electric machines. COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA. Aug. 24, 1954 [Aug. 24, 1953], No. 24663/54. Class 35. [Also in Group XIX] Motors and generators with longitudinally movable elements.-A two-phase linear induction motor drives a tape or rod actuating a plotting table (see Group XIX). As shown in Fig. 1, the tape 4 which is composed of laminated copper or resistance material passes between poles 7 carrying reference windings 8 and quadrature error signal windings 9. In a modified form, Fig. 3, a rod 10 passes through the annular poles 7a energized by coils 8a, 9a of the two phases. The tape may have lateral slots or ridges.
