913,054. Transformers; induction machines. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. April 2, 1959 [April 8, 1958], No. 20860/59. Divided out of 913,053. Drawings to Specification. Classes 35 and 38 (2). The subject-matter of this Specification is included in Specification 913,053, but the claims are concerned with a combination of a polyphase transformer and an induction motor (or a winding thereof) in which the transformer primary winding is arranged in a slotted core so that the phase of the effective current flowing in the conductors of any slot is a logarithmic function of the distance of that slot from a first slot, or of the slot number, and the secondary is connected to the winding it supplies which is also on a slotted core (the stator core) in such a way as to provide for the phases of the currents in the slots carrying the third winding a logarithmic to linear conversion so that there are equal phase differences between the currents in adjacent slots of the third winding, these phase differences being variable by relative movement of the primary and secondary windings.
